On June 8, 2025, just ahead of our monthly chapter meeting, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® – Xi Nu Omega Chapter, in proud partnership with the Monarch Awards Foundation, Inc., hosted a heartwarming Ice Cream Social at Christ Universal Temple.
Organized by our Sisterly Relations Committee and cherished Golden Girls, the gathering offered a joyful moment to connect, refresh, and celebrate the power of community.
Guests were treated to handcrafted scoops from Shawn Michelle’s Homemade Ice Cream—a beloved Black-owned business known for its commitment to old-fashioned goodness and inclusive offerings, including vegan delights. Each bite was more than a treat; it was a tribute to our shared values of sisterhood, support, and economic empowerment.
This event aligned beautifully with Alpha Kappa Alpha’s international initiative, Black Dollar Days, which encourages members to “Wear Pink, Spend Green, and Buy Black” throughout the month of June. That week’s theme, Savor the Flavor, spotlighted Black-owned culinary businesses, and our chapter proudly joined in by uplifting Shawn Michelle’s and demonstrating the impact of intentional, collective support.
We extend heartfelt thanks to our Sisterly Relations Committee, our Golden Girls, and the team at Shawn Michelle’s for crafting such a sweet and meaningful experience. Together, we continue to build community, honor tradition, and strengthen Black economic wealth—one scoop at a time.
