XI NU OMEGA CHARTERED
OUR STORY: CHARTERED JULY 9, 1982
In 1980, Peggy Lewis LeCompte, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, 19th Central Regional Director met with Delta Omicron Chapter alumnae about resurrecting on Northern Illinois University’s campus. Afterwards, the “Delta Omicron Reactivation Committee” was created and on March 28, 1981, the committee realized their goal of reviving the chapter. At the Regional Director’s urging and with her full support, the group
formed into the Sorority Committee to Service Chicago Heights. After adding AKA members from across metropolitan Chicago to their roster, the group desired, sought and obtained status as an official Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority graduate chapter chartering interest group.

The Delta Omicron Reactivation Committee was formed, and many Delta Omicron alumnae were reclaimed as financial members. Under the leadership of Soror Peggy Lewis LeCompte, 19th Central Regional Director, fifteen members of the Ivy Leaf Pledge Club became women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Delta Omicron Chapter on March 28, 1981. With the reactivation of Delta Omicron completed, the desire to charter a new graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® was born. On July 9, 1982, Xi Nu Omega was chartered by Soror Peggy Lewis LeCompte, Central Regional Director.

Affectionately known as Too Too Xi Nu, the chapter provides community service, practices sisterhood, and promotes scholarship. Later, the chapter established the Monarch Awards Foundation, Inc. (MAF) as a separate entity to raise funds, execute the Sorority’s service programs, and award scholarships. Tax-exempt, charitable nonprofit status (501)(c)(3) was granted in 1989.
